About the temple

Mahabhairav Temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on a hillock in northern Tezpur, Assam. Originally constructed in stone by King Bana, it was later renovated with concrete and received patronage from Ahom dynasty rulers. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
