Deva Mai Temple stands as a revered sanctuary dedicated to Vaishno Devi in her manifestation as a young girl. According to temple tradition, the Goddess appeared in this form to Pandit Shyami Dass, a devoted pilgrim and descendant of the legendary Pandit Shridhar associated with the main Vaishno Devi shrine. She remained at this sacred site for 110 years, bestowing blessings upon pilgrims before transforming into the idol worshipped today. The temple holds profound significance within the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage circuit, following the first darshan at Kol Khandoli and preceding subsequent sacred sites. Surrounded by dense forest within the Siwalik mountain range, the temple features an ancient trident of Mata Vaishno Devi and a sacred mango tree believed to have been planted by the Goddess herself. The spiritual journey to this temple, accessible via a 3.5-kilometer diversion from the Jammu-Katra highway, offers pilgrims a serene environment for prayer and meditation amid picturesque natural landscapes.
