Built during the later Chandela period in the 12th century, Chaturbhuj Temple stands within the UNESCO World Heritage Southern Group of Khajuraho temples. The shrine houses a striking four-armed idol of Lord Vishnu, from which the temple derives its name—'Chaturbhuj' meaning 'one who has four arms.' Unlike many temples in the Khajuraho complex, this sanctuary is characterized by its relatively simple exterior and notably lacks the erotic sculptures commonly associated with the site, making it architecturally unique. The temple features soft golden sandstone construction and offers a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere enhanced by open surroundings. Devotees visit throughout the day for darshan and aarti, with the evening rituals and festival celebrations drawing particularly strong attendance.
