Located in Hassan district, Karnataka, Hasanamba Temple is a Hindu shrine devoted to Goddess Shakti, also known as Ambā or Ambe, meaning mother. Constructed during the 12th century CE, the temple was established during the reign of Pāḷegāra rulers Krishnappa Nayaka and Sanjeeva Nayaka, as evidenced by inscriptions discovered at the site. The temple remains closed to the general public throughout the year, opening its doors exclusively during the annual Deepavali festival celebration, typically in October. During this period, the temple hosts a major festival known as the Hasanamba Jatra Mahotsav, which features cultural folk performances, flower exhibitions, craft displays, cooking competitions, dog shows, and helicopter tours. The duration of public darshan varies annually according to the Hindu calendar, ranging from nine to thirteen days.
