About the temple

Bhairabkunda Shiva Mandir, located in southeastern Bhutan near Jomotsangkha, is the only Shakta pitha in Bhutan and one of the country's most significant Hindu temples. According to Hindu mythology, it marks one of 51 sacred sites where parts of Sati Devi's body fell after her death. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
