About Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple
This ancient Hindu temple houses a self-manifested idol of Narasimha worshipped as Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha, with Lakshmi venerated as both Rajalakshmi Thayar and Chenchu Lakshmi Thayar. According to tradition, the temple was constructed in the 11th century by Anumala Machi Reddy, ruler of the Thangedu region, after the deity appeared in his dream with instructions to build the shrine. The site itself had been a place of worship for centuries prior, revered by sage Bharadvaja and other spiritual seekers. The temple follows the Vadakalai sampradayam tradition with Vaikhanasa family archakas performing rituals, and maintains connections to the Ahobilam mutt. The Chennuri family oversees temple administration.
