About Sri Darma Muneeswaran Temple
Established circa 1900 by approximately 30 Indian families engaged in cattle-rearing, the temple initially consisted of a hemispherical granite stone with inscriptions and a trident placed beneath a Bodhi tree. Following widespread visions of Sri Darma Muneeswaran reported during the 1930s, community leaders initiated improvements to the shrine. In 1969, additional deities were installed—Sri Mariamman, Sri Vinayagar, Sri Murugan, Sri Nagar, and Sri Bairavar—with temporary structures constructed to house them. The temple was formally registered as the Dharma Muneeswaran Temple Society in 1980. Recognizing the need for expanded facilities to accommodate its growing congregation, the society approved construction of a modern temple complex in 1989. After securing a 30-year lease on the site in 1995, comprehensive plans were developed for a facility designed to serve religious, cultural, educational, social, and welfare needs of devotees.
