Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple stands as a significant religious and cultural landmark in Singapore's Little India district along Serangoon Road. The temple complex dates from 1855, making it among the earliest Hindu temples established in Singapore. The temple's most distinctive feature is its five-tiered gopuram, a 20-metre-tall tower constructed in 1966 at a cost of S$300,000, which was generously donated by P. Govindasamy Pillai, an early Indian migrant to Singapore. The gopuram's intricate design showcases the different incarnations of Lord Vishnu, reflecting the temple's primary dedication to this major Hindu deity. The temple's historical and architectural significance was formally recognized when it was gazetted as a National Monument of Singapore in 1978. Today, it continues to serve as an active place of worship and community gathering, offering various religious services and cultural programs.
