About Sivalokanathar temple, Gramam
This Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, worshipped as Sivalokanathar and represented by the lingam, stands in the village of Gramam in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity's consort Parvati is depicted as Soundaranayagi. The temple holds significant spiritual importance as it is praised in the Tevaram, the 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical work composed by the Nayanars. According to tradition, the original complex was constructed by the Cholas, while the present masonry structure was built by Vijayanagar kings during the 16th century. The temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. A distinctive feature is Lord Dakshinamurthy seated upon his bull vehicle Nandi rather than beneath a Banyan tree. The shrine also houses shrines dedicated to Vinayaka, Muruga, Nataraja, Navagrahas, Aiyanar, and Mother Durga within its prakara.
