About Shri Aday Durgay Temple
This historic temple predates the 15th century and stands as a modest yet spiritually significant structure within a forested landscape accessible via a 15–20 minute walk from state highway MSH 115 along a stone pathway. The simple temple building rises only 10 feet in height with a small elevated chamber and an eastward-facing entrance, distinguishing itself by remaining perpetually open without a wooden door. According to regional tradition, entry is restricted to male members of the Pujare clan. The temple is maintained by hereditary priests from the Pujare community who reside in nearby settlements and perform all ritual observances including puja and aarti. Ongoing renovation efforts are sustained through donations from local Pujare families, and mango plantations surrounding the temple premises are owned by devotees and community members.
