About the temple

The Ranganathaswamy Temple at Nirthadi in Karnataka's Davangere district was reconstructed in 1698 by Chitradurga chief Baramappa Nayaka after the original structure was destroyed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's forces in 1696. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
