The Rajagopalaswamy Temple stands as a monumental Vaishnava sanctuary in Mannargudi, Thiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, encompassing 23 acres of sacred space. Constructed during the reign of Chola king Kulothunga I between 1072 and 1122 CE, the temple exemplifies Chola architectural excellence with 16 mandapams and 9 towers. The presiding deity is Rajagopalaswamy, a manifestation of Krishna, worshipped alongside his consort Sri Sengamala Thayar (Lakshmi). The temple follows Pancharatra Agama worship protocols and is administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department. Known by multiple epithets including Champakaranya Kshetram, Dakshina Dwaraka, Guruvayoor, Vanduvaraapathi, and Vasudevapuri, it holds paramount significance in Vaishnavite tradition as the foremost of the 108 Abhimana Kshetras.
