About the temple

Maa Kamakhya Devalaya, situated on Nilachal Hill in western Guwahati, is one of the oldest and most sacred of the 51 Shakti Peethas, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, the embodiment of desire and a central shrine of Tantric Shaktism. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
