Located near Bindu Sagar Lake in the Old Town of Bhubaneswar, Kedargauri Temple is an ancient shrine built in the traditional Kalinga architectural style. The temple complex comprises two main sanctums: the Kedar Temple housing a Shivalinga and the Gauri Temple containing an idol of Goddess Parvati, along with smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Durga. The premises also features two sacred kunds (ponds)—Khira Kund and Marichi Kund—whose waters are believed to possess healing powers. According to legend, the temple was constructed by King Lalatendu Keshari in memory of two lovers, Kedar and Gauri, whose tragic story of devotion and sacrifice resonates with devotees seeking blessings for harmonious relationships and marriage. The temple is particularly significant during Sital Sasthi, celebrated in May or June, when Lord Shiva's idol is carried in procession from Lingaraj Temple to Kedargauri Temple for ceremonial wedding rituals with Goddess Parvati.
