Avari Mata temple

Local accounts trace the temple's origins to a family narrative: a landowner named Awaji had seven sons and a daughter named Kesar. When the brothers arranged multiple marriage proposals for their sister at different locations, Kesar is said to have prayed to her family deity for resolution. On the day of one arranged marriage, the earth reportedly collapsed, and as Kesar descended into it, her father caught her hand. In anger at this intervention, Kesar cursed her father. Awaji subsequently built this temple as an act of devotion and seeking liberation from the curse—a foundation story that connects the temple to both family faith and the goddess's protective power.
