About Akshayapureeswarar Temple

Located in Vilankulam village of Thanjavur District, this ancient temple enshrines Lord Akshayapureeswarar as its primary deity, with the consort Abhivruddhi Nayaki gracing as the presiding mother goddess. The temple is distinguished as a Poosam star temple, where Saturn (Saneeswara) is worshipped in his wedding form alongside his consorts Mandha and Jeshta. According to temple lore, Saturn himself once worshipped at this shrine when afflicted, establishing its significance for those facing planetary challenges. The sanctum features a Vilwa tree as the sacred tree, and the temple complex includes shrines for Vinayaka, Muruga, Chandikeswara, the Navagrahas (represented by Saturn and Sun), Dakshinamurthy, Durga, Gajalakshmi, and Nataraja. Devotees particularly seek blessings for removal of Saturn's adverse effects, resolution of marriage obstacles, relief from physical ailments, and general prosperity.
