About Venugopalaswamy Temple, Karvetinagaram

The Sri Venugopalaswamy Temple at Karvetinagaram enshrines Lord Krishna as Venugopala, depicted in a charming posture holding a flute, embodying divine joy and compassion. The temple holds historical significance as the moolasthana (original seat) of the Karvetinagaram chieftains, who were devoted patrons of the shrine. Built in traditional South Indian Dravidian architectural style, the temple features a sanctum, mandapa, and gopuram. It is administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and serves as a vital center of Krishna bhakti for devotees from the surrounding region. The temple is renowned for its Saturday Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, a grand abhishekam ceremony considered highly auspicious, and hosts the annual Brahmotsavam festival celebrated over nine days in March or April with processions and special rituals.
