Tirunallam Umamaheswarar Temple

The temple is renowned for housing a monumental bronze idol of Nataraja—Lord Shiva in his cosmic dance form—standing approximately nine feet tall. Cast in Panchaloka, a five-metal alloy, this sculpture represents one of the finest examples of Chola bronze craftsmanship. The main mandapam (pillared hall) features an inner ceiling adorned with painted depictions of the 63 Nayanmars (Shaiva saints), various forms of Shiva, the twelve zodiac signs, and other divine figures. Within this hall stand the flagstaff (kodimaram), the bali peetam (altar), and the figure of Nandi, Shiva's bull. The main sanctum houses the Shiva Lingam on a square avudaiyar with an elevated baanam. Surrounding the sanctum are shrines to Vinayaka, Dakshinamurthy, Agasthiya, and other deities associated with Shaiva worship. Outside the temple lies Shakthi Theertham, a water body used for ritual purification.

The temple opens for darshan in two sessions: morning from 6:00 to 12:00 and evening from 4:00 to 8:30. Early morning and late afternoon visits offer quieter conditions for worship.
