About Swarved Mahamandir

The Swarved is a spiritual scripture composed of nearly 4,000 couplets written by Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj (1888–1954), a yogi and spiritual teacher who founded the Vihangam Yoga tradition. The text articulates teachings on Brahma Vidya—the knowledge of Supreme Consciousness—and represents Sadguru's spiritual realizations regarding the union of the individual soul with the Supreme Soul. The name Swarved itself signifies this knowledge of the soul and the Supreme Soul, serving as the core text of Vihangam Yoga practice.

Vihangam Yoga is presented as a meditative discipline offering a structured approach to self-realization. The Mahamandir welcomes practitioners of all backgrounds and faiths, operating as a non-denominational spiritual sanctuary rather than a temple dedicated to a specific deity.

Daily Darshan and Spiritual Practices

The Mahamandir opens daily for darshan and meditation. Summer hours run from 08:00 to 21:00, while winter hours are 08:00 to 20:00. Special morning and evening darshan sessions occur from 04:00 to 06:00 and 18:00 to 20:00 respectively. During these designated times, visitors participate in Swagat Gaan (welcome chanting), Mangal Gaan (auspicious chanting), Swarved Path (recitation of the scripture), meditation, Vandana (devotional offerings), Aarti (ritual worship), and Shanti Path (peace recitations).

The trust charges no fee for meditation, aarti, or darshan, making spiritual practice accessible to all visitors regardless of financial means. Morning and evening aartis are performed daily, providing structured times for collective worship and spiritual practice.

Architecture and Design

The Mahamandir represents a deliberate fusion of ancient spiritual wisdom with modern architectural technology. The seven-story structure incorporates pink sandstone carving with spiritual depictions that illustrate philosophical concepts central to Vihangam Yoga teaching. The inscription of all 4,000 Swarved verses on white marble walls transforms the building itself into a teaching tool and meditation focus.

A 135-foot statue of Anant Shri Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj is under construction nearby, further establishing the site as a major spiritual landmark. The complex also includes a Gurukul (free boarding school) and a Gaushala (cow shelter), reflecting the organization's commitment to broader social and educational service.

Visiting Information and Practical Details

The Mahamandir is located in Mudli, Umrahan, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It operates seven days a week throughout the year. Visitors should plan their visit according to the seasonal timings: summer (08:00–21:00) or winter (08:00–20:00). Those wishing to participate in structured spiritual practice should arrive during the designated morning darshan (04:00–06:00) or evening darshan (18:00–20:00) periods.

As a meditation and spiritual centre rather than a traditional temple, the Mahamandir likely follows conventions common to yoga and meditation facilities: modest dress is advisable, and respectful conduct during aartis and group meditation is expected. Visitors should contact the trust directly for specific guidance on dress codes, photography policies, or accessibility accommodations. Contact details are available through the official website or by phone at 8586808820.

Community and Service Activities

Beyond its primary function as a meditation centre, Swarved Mahamandir operates several social service initiatives. The Gurukul provides free boarding education, while the Gaushala offers shelter and care for cattle. The organization also conducts blood donation services and other charitable activities directed toward community welfare. These programs reflect the broader philosophy that spiritual development and social responsibility are interconnected aspects of practice.
