Originally founded as a modest shrine beneath a banyan tree by Hanuman Beem Singh, Sri Krishnan Temple evolved into a significant religious landmark featuring classic South Indian architectural design. The main shrine was constructed in 1904, followed by the addition of an eight-metre copper and gold-plated dome in 1933. The temple complex, spanning 1008 square metres on Waterloo Street, showcases intricate carvings of Hindu deities, semi-precious stone embellishments on the gopuram, and a main shrine crafted from Chinese pebbles and granite. Notably, the temple maintains a shrine dedicated to the Buddhist Goddess Guan Yin, exemplifying Singapore's multi-religious harmony. The temple draws devotees throughout the day for darshan and aarti, with particularly vibrant observances during evening rituals and festival celebrations.
