Sree Soepramaniem Nagarattar Temple stands as the second-oldest Hindu temple in Medan, Indonesia, built by the Natukotai Chettiar community who migrated from Tamil Nadu to Southeast Asia for trade and commerce. The temple is primarily dedicated to Lord Murugan, also known as Subramaniam, though it also honors Ganesha and Shiva. Beyond its religious function, the temple serves as a cultural anchor for the Tamil and Indian Indonesian communities, preserving their heritage and spiritual traditions in the Dutch East Indies era and beyond. The structure retains its original architectural character with distinctive Dravidian design elements and a striking color palette of dark green, light green, and gold. The temple houses a hundred-year-old wooden chariot known locally as Radhoo, which is ceremonially carried to Sri Mariamman Temple during the annual Thaipusam festival celebration, one of the temple's most significant observances.
