About Sree Narayanapuram Thrikkayil Temple
Located in Perissery, Alappuzha district, this ancient temple enshrines a four-armed Krishna idol carrying the conch, discus, mace, and lotus—representing the majestic form of Vishnu as revealed to Vasudeva and Devaki during Krishna's incarnation. The idol, believed to be approximately 1500 years old according to local tradition, is adorned with Thulasi garlands and pearl necklaces. The temple serves as both a spiritual center and cultural repository, featuring intricate carvings and serene courtyards. Its annual festival occurs in Makkaram and spans eight days, concluding with Aarattu Mahotsavam, the ritual immersion and return of procession idols. The temple is managed by the Guruvayur Devaswom Board and conducts important pujas including Pushpanjali, Thrikkaivenna, and Thirumadhuram, each accompanied by traditional mantra chanting.
