About Sidhhanath Temple, Kharsundi

Located in Kharsundi village within Atpadi Taluka of Sangli district, Sidhhanath Temple stands as a significant regional shrine honoring Lord Siddhanath, revered as a manifestation of Lord Shiva and known affectionately as Nath Baba. The temple features Himadpanthi architectural style, constructed entirely from stone with a distinctive 150-foot tower crowned with a golden finial. The structure comprises five sections: main entrance, Nagarkhana with intricate carvings, Sabha Mandap, sanctum, and circumambulation path. A brass cow idol stands before the main deity. According to local tradition, Nath Baba had two divine consorts—Goddess Jogeshwari who resides within the temple, and Goddess Zakabai stationed near Neilkarnji several kilometers away. A condition imposed by the first wife permits their meeting once every three years, typically in December, when villagers carry the deity's palanquin in procession. Near Gohdapur, a natural spring believed to originate from the deity's horse striking the ground during an encounter with a serpent flows perpetually without drying.
