About the temple

Pazhaya Sreekanteswaram Temple is an ancient Shiva shrine in Puthenchantha, Thiruvananthapuram, believed to date from at least 1000 AD. It houses a self-manifested Shiva Linga and serves as the original abode of the deity now worshipped at the newer Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
