Located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram's Thycaud area near Government Model School and Government Arts College, Sree Dharma Sastha Temple stands as one of three temples in the city functioning under the NSS Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Karayoga Union. The temple's primary deity is Sree Dharma Sastha, who is believed to embody the form of Dhanwanthari holding the auspicious Neelathamara in his right hand. According to temple tradition, this extraordinary deity showers blessings on devotees seeking spiritual fulfillment and protection. The temple's origins trace to a Brahmin nobleman from Paduthol Mana known as 'Valiya Thycaud,' who established it with assistance from the Travancore royal family. When the temple faced financial difficulties, Krishnan Namboodiripad legally transferred ownership to the NSS Karayoga Union to ensure its continued operation and preservation of rituals. The temple maintains an active daily worship schedule with morning rituals commencing at 4 am and evening ceremonies extending into the night, reflecting its significant role in the spiritual life of the community.
