About Irumkulangara Durga Devi Temple

The temple derives its name from the Malayalam words 'irum' (two) and 'kulam' (pond), referencing two ponds that historically existed in the vicinity. The shrine maintains historical connections with Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, with priests traditionally traveling by country boats to perform rituals at this sacred site. Following significant renovations, the temple was inaugurated by Sree Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma Maharaja of Travancore on December 25, 2009. The temple provides a tranquil sanctuary where devotees engage in sacred rituals, meditation, and spiritual practices within an atmosphere enriched by incense, chanting, and communal worship.
