Mukti Dham Mukam stands as one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations for the Bishnoi community. The temple is built upon the sacred Samadhi of Guru Jambheshwar Bhagwan, also known as Jambhoji, who lived from 1540 to 1593 AD and established the Bishnoi sect in 1542 AD. According to tradition, before his demise, Guru Jambheshwar designated the spot for his holy resting place, instructing his followers to dig 24 cubits near a khejri tree where they discovered Bhagwan Shiva's trident and dhuna. The temple, known as Nij Mandir, has been renovated into a grand structure in modern times. The site attracts large numbers of devotees, particularly during the two annual fairs held on the Amavasya of Phalgun and Asoj. The location embodies the Bishnoi philosophy of reverence for all living beings and environmental conservation, with devotees traditionally feeding birds during their visits.
