Manakkattu Devi Temple stands as a sacred place of worship in Pallippad, located approximately 4 kilometers east of Harippad on the Nangiarkulangara Mavelikkara road. The temple is believed to be 500 to 1000 years old and holds deep spiritual significance in the region. According to temple lore, during the Dvapara Yuga, the area was part of the Khandava forest, which was later burned. A farmer's wife discovered a bleeding stone while sharpening her sickle, revealing the Sree Bhuvaneswary idol beneath. The idol was subsequently consecrated near an ancient Shasta temple traditionally established by Parashurama. The site of the idol's discovery is known as Valiya Manakkattu Kaavu. The temple's worship practices are distinctive, featuring three daily poojas dedicated to Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswathi, mirroring the ritual traditions observed at Mookambika Devi Temple. The temple comes under four NSS Karayogams and is surrounded by serene natural beauty, attracting both devotees and heritage enthusiasts.
