About Kochambalam Devi Temple

Sree Subrahmanya Temple, also known as Kochambalam, is located in Nayarambalam, Kochi, Kerala. The name Kochambalam means 'small temple,' reflecting its modest origins as a makeshift shrine. The temple was founded when devotees approached Gurudev during his visit to Chira, seeking to establish a permanent place of worship. Gurudev prophesied that a Swami would arrive within seven days to oversee the temple's construction. True to this prophecy, a Swami appeared and performed penance in the area, healing ailments and addressing the prayers of local devotees. According to tradition, the temple was built at the exact spot where the Swami involuntarily spat, following his divine instruction. The temple remains an important spiritual center, particularly known for celebrating Thaipooyam, a significant annual festival dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya.
