About Kambagiri Swamy temple
Located in Kunukuntla village within Owk Mandal of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh, Kambagiri Swamy temple is surrounded by the villages of Uppalapadu, Nereducheralla, Burugula, Boincheruvupalli and Racherla. The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu, venerated as Kambagiri Rama and Kambagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. According to temple mythology, Kambagiri Swami has seven brothers including Lord Venkateswara, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, and others. The deity is believed to have two consorts, Sadda Lakkama and Sadda Lakshmamma. Devotees hold the conviction that their prayers and desires are fulfilled within a short timeframe. The temple experiences significant summer heat and water scarcity. An annual Tirunnalla temple fair occurs on the full moon day of Chatra, approximately fifteen days after Ugadi, attracting hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and supported by special government bus services. Additionally, in May each year, the celestial wedding of Goddesses Adi Lakshmi, Siddi Lakshmi and Lord Kambagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is celebrated at Perusomula village. In January 2024, the temple underwent renovation and development as part of a combined thirty crore rupee project involving four temples in the region.
