About Kalkaji Mandir

Situated in the Kalkaji neighborhood of South Delhi opposite Nehru Place and near Okhla railway station, this temple honors the Hindu goddess Kali. According to local tradition, the temple's origins trace back over three thousand years to the Satya Yuga, with documented Maratha-era construction in 1764 and Mughal-era expansion in 1816. The temple operates continuously throughout the year without closures, opening at 4:00 AM daily and remaining accessible until 11:30 PM. The sanctum features a marble interior, and the temple conducts four daily aartis: the Mangala Aarti at 4:30 AM, Madhyahn Aarti at noon, Sandhya Aarti at 7:00 PM, and Shayan Aarti at 10:30 PM. The temple experiences significant crowds during Navratri, when overnight darshan becomes available. Entry is free, though donation boxes facilitate voluntary contributions from visitors.
