Located in Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu, approximately 10 kilometers from Ariyalur town, this temple represents an extraordinary form of worship centered on a granite pillar believed to possess miraculous powers. According to temple tradition, the pillar dates back approximately 8,000 years, while the temple structure itself was constructed roughly 500 years ago by a cowherd who discovered the sacred post. The pillar, known as 'Kambamperumal,' has a carved figure of Hanuman on its lower portion depicted in a posture of self-control. The temple features a Dasavathara mandap with sculptures of the ten avatars of Vishnu and is noted for its artistic carvings. A sacred Mahalingamaram tree stands near the sanctum sanctorum. The temple maintains a unique practice where no Sorgavasal (Gates of Heaven) ceremony occurs on Vaikunda Ekadasi, and marriages are not conducted within its premises. Farmers traditionally contribute agricultural yields and the first calf of their cattle as offerings of gratitude.
