About Hindu Temple of Delaware
Established through the collective efforts of the Indian community, the Hindu Temple of Delaware was formally inaugurated with its Kumbhabhishekam ceremony in May 2002, after the opening ceremony took place on October 20, 1996. Built on approximately 4.5 acres of land purchased through donations from around 60 families, the temple is dedicated primarily to the goddess Lakshmi Devi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. The temple operates as a non-profit organization serving the religious, cultural, and educational needs of Indian families in the region. Beyond worship, it offers comprehensive services including Vedic priest services for home ceremonies, wedding hall facilities, catering, astrology consultations, and educational programs in Indian languages and Hindu scriptures. The temple maintains a diverse pantheon of deities and conducts regular pujas and cultural celebrations throughout the year.
