About Dronacharya Temple, Gurugram
Located in Bhim Nagar (also referenced as Subhash Nagar), Sector 6, Gurugram, this modest Hindu temple was established in 1872 by Singha Bharat, a devoted follower of Shitala Devi (Drona's wife), who donated approximately 50 acres of land including a lake believed to be the site of Dronacharya's teachings. The temple features a two-room structure painted pink, with a central white marble statue of Dronacharya surrounded by idols of other Hindu deities. The back walls display murals depicting scenes from the Mahabharata, particularly Dronacharya instructing his royal students in archery and warfare. Maintained by five local families for generations, the temple operates daily from early morning to late evening and has gained renewed attention since Gurugram's 2016 renaming, which derives from Sanskrit words meaning 'village of the guru,' honoring the legendary preceptor believed to have resided in the area.
