The Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple stands as one of the most important shrines administered by the Cochin Devaswom Board across Kerala. The primary deity, known as Rajarajeswari or Adiparasakthi, manifests in three distinct forms throughout the day, with devotees experiencing the goddess's presence through morning Saraswathy worship, noon Lakshmi veneration, and evening Durga rituals. The temple complex houses multiple sacred spaces including idols of Mahavishnu alongside the primary deity, earning additional names such as Ammenarayana and Lakshminarayana. The sanctum also contains representations of Brahma, Shiva, Ganesh, Subramanya, and Sastha on the same pedestal. Beyond the main shrine, the complex encompasses the Kizhukkavu Bhagavathy temple and dedicated spaces for Sastha, Shiva, Ganesh, and various celestial deities. The most significant festival, Makom Thozhal, occurs during Kumbham month (February-March), commemorating the legendary appearance of Bhagavathy to the saint Vilwamangalam Swamiyar.
