About Chaturshringi Temple
Perched on the northwestern slopes of a hill in Pune's Gokhale Nagar, Chaturshringi Temple rises approximately 90 feet high and spans 125 feet in width. According to local tradition, the temple originated when a devoted merchant named Durlabhsheth Pitambardas Mahajan, unable to travel to Saptashrungi near Nasik due to advanced age, received a divine vision directing him to the temple's current location. Upon discovering the goddess's idol at the site, he established the shrine in gratitude. The temple is accessed by climbing over a hundred steps and is surrounded by lush greenery, offering scenic views of the city. Currently maintained by the Shri Devi Chaturshringi Mandir Trust, the temple undergoes ongoing renovation efforts to enhance accessibility while preserving its heritage character.
