About Bhrigu Ashram (Ballia)

Located in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, Bhrigu Ashram stands as a sacred spiritual destination honoring Maharishi Bhrigu, a mind-born son of Lord Brahma and one of the Saptarishis. According to Hindu scriptures, Bhrigu came to this location to perform penance after humbly seeking forgiveness from Lord Vishnu during his quest to determine the greatest among the trinity. The temple complex houses idols of Maharishi Bhrigu, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. The original temple was submerged due to erosion from the Ganga River over centuries, and the present structure was rebuilt approximately 100 years ago through the efforts of local devotees and saints. The ashram is renowned as the place where Bhrigu composed the Bhrigu Samhita, an ancient astrological treatise believed to contain the destinies of countless individuals. The site attracts thousands of pilgrims seeking wisdom, spiritual clarity, and blessings, particularly during auspicious occasions like Guru Purnima, Navratri, and Amavasya.
