About Baba Keenaram Ashram

Located at Kring-Kund in Varanasi, Baba Keenaram Ashram stands as the epicenter of the Aghora tradition and one of the most ancient sacred sites in the region. During the 16th century, Aghoracharya Maharajshree Baba Keenaram rejuvenated this place, establishing it as a landmark for both spiritual and social advancement. Baba Keenaram took Samadhi on September 21st, 1771 or 1772, and initiated the Abbot throne tradition at Kring-Kund. The ashram serves as a spiritual retreat and headquarters for this esoteric lineage, centered around the samadhi shrine and the sacred Krim Kund pond. In 1978, the 11th Peethadheshwar (Abbot), Aghoracharya Maharajshree Baba Siddharth Gautam Ram Ji, established ABKASESS (Aghoracharya Baba Keenaram Aghor Sodh Evam Seva Sansthan) to advance education, social welfare, Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing, and awareness programs. The shrine draws devotees throughout the day for darshan and aarti, with evening rituals and festival celebrations reaching their spiritual peak.
