Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple

Darshan is available during two periods each day: early morning from 04:00 to 11:00, and evening from 17:00 to 20:00. The temple observes a structured schedule of ritual worship throughout the day. The earliest ritual, Usha Pooja, begins at 04:30, followed by Etirthu Pooja at 07:00 and Pandhheeradi Pooja at 09:30. The morning worship concludes with Ucha Pooja at 11:00. In the evening, Deeparadhana (the lighting of lamps) occurs at 18:30, followed by Sandhya Aarti at 19:00 and Athazha Pooja at 20:00.

Visitors should plan their visit according to these timings, keeping in mind that the temple closes between 11:00 and 17:00. The early morning hours offer a quieter atmosphere for personal worship, while evening visits coincide with the temple's most elaborate ritual observances. Festivals and Seasonal Observances

The temple observes several significant festivals throughout the year. Makar Sankranti (14 January), Sharad Navaratri (11 October), and Raksha Bandhan (28 August) are marked as important occasions for worship. The Onam season brings the most distinctive celebration: the Aranmula Vallamkali, an elaborate boat race featuring over 100 ornately crafted snake-boats known as chundan vallam. Each boat is manned by 64 to 128 oarsmen and represents a remarkable feat of traditional Kerala craftsmanship and coordinated effort. The Vallamkali is accompanied by the Vallasadya, a ceremonial feast offered as part of the festival observance.

Beyond its local celebrations, the temple holds a crucial role in the annual Thiruvabharanam procession, during which the sacred ornaments of Ayyappan are transported toward Sabarimala. The temple also maintains custody of the Thanka Anki, Ayyappan's golden vestments, which were donated by the royal family of Travancore and are taken to Sabarimala during the Mandala season.
