About Thrichittatt Maha Vishnu Temple

Located in Chengannur, Alappuzha District, this Kerala-style temple is dedicated to Vishnu in his Imayavarappan form and ranks among the most sacred Divya Desams. According to tradition, after the Kurukshetra war, Yudhishthira performed penance here to atone for a half-truth that led to Drona's death, and Lord Vishnu blessed him. The temple features a distinctive circular sanctum reflecting early Kerala architectural brilliance and maintains a peaceful Vedic atmosphere. It serves as the primary seat of the five Pandava temples circuit near Chengannur and is extensively mentioned in the hymns of Nammalvar, the 8th-century Sri Vaishnava saint-poet. Devotees visit seeking mental peace, truthfulness in life, and relief from ancestral debts.
