Located on Kesava Perumal Street in Mylapore, Chennai, this traditionally constructed Dravidian-style temple enshrines Lord Adikesava Perumal in standing posture holding the conch and discus, accompanied by his consort Mayuravalli Thayar (Lakshmi). The temple holds profound spiritual significance as the legendary birthplace of Peyalvar, who is said to have been born in a lotus flower within the temple tank during a divine manifestation of Vishnu. The sacred tank, known as Chakra Theertham or Adikesava Perumal Theertham, is believed to possess purifying powers. The prakaram houses subsidiary shrines dedicated to Andal, Hanuman, Garuda, and Ranganatha. A unique feature is the worship of Mayuravalli with Bilva leaves, typically reserved for Shiva temples, commemorating the legend wherein Shiva, Parvati, and Lakshmi sought relief from curses through their devotion to Adikesava Perumal. The temple stands as one of Mylapore's oldest extant monuments alongside the Kapaleeshwarar Temple.
