Dhanteras

Dhanteras marks the opening day of the five-day Diwali festival, celebrated on the new moon night of the Hindu month Kartik. Significance

According to ancient texts, on this day Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the cosmic ocean during the churning of milk, bearing the nectar of immortality and the knowledge of Ayurveda. Simultaneously, Lakshmi's presence on this evening sanctifies commerce, trade and household treasures, reminding devotees that prosperity flows when paired with dharma and gratitude. The festival teaches that acquiring wealth is virtuous when it serves family welfare and charitable purposes, and that health—the greatest treasure—must be honored alongside material gain. How it's observed

1. 1Cleanse and decorate the home's entrance and prayer space with rangoli patterns and fresh flowers to welcome divine blessings
