About Taman Sari Temple

Pura Taman Sari, meaning 'Fragrant Garden' in Indonesian, is a lesser-known spiritual sanctuary that combines lush natural landscapes with traditional Balinese temple architecture. The temple grounds feature intricately carved gates, stone statues of Hindu deities, pavilions, and striking water gardens with lotus ponds and fountains that create a meditative environment. Following the traditional Balinese Tri Mandala spatial design concept, the temple divides its grounds into outer, middle, and inner sanctuaries with increasing spiritual significance. The site is particularly renowned for hosting melukat, a traditional Balinese purification ritual using holy water to cleanse the body and soul from negative energy. Visitors can witness or respectfully observe ceremonies, especially during special days on the Balinese calendar, offering an authentic glimpse into Bali's living Hindu culture.
