About Shri Katyayani Baneshwar Temple, Aversa

Located in the coastal town of Aversa near Ankola in Uttara Kannada district, this temple preserves the religious heritage of Gaud Saraswat Brahmin communities. The temple houses the primary deities Shree Katyayani and Shree Baneshwar, along with accompanying deities including Shri Grampurush, Shri Nirakar, Shri Rampurush, Shri Kalabhairav, and Shri Daad. The Katyayani idol is distinctive for its tilted head, similar to the Navadurga Devi at Madkai. According to temple custom, worship proceeds first to Shree Katyayani, then to Shree Baneshwar, and then to Shri Ganapati. The temple celebrates the Navami Palaki Utsav on the ninth day of both lunar fortnights monthly, except during Ashada, Shravana, and Bhadrapadha months.
