About Oondreswarar Temple
Situated on the northern banks of Poondi reservoir along the Thiruvallur-Thiruthani road, approximately 11 kilometers from town, Oondreswarar Temple enshrines Shiva in the form of a lingam worshipped as Oondreswarar. His consort Parvati is venerated as Minnoli Amman. The temple holds significant religious status as a Paadal Petra Sthalam, a designation reserved for Shiva temples glorified in the devotional hymns composed by the Nayanmars, Tamil saint-poets whose verses were compiled in the Tevaram during the 7th century CE. This classification places the temple among an exclusive group of 275 sacred Shaivite pilgrimage sites across Tamil Nadu.
