Located in Thirunindravur, a western suburb of Chennai in Tiruvallur District, this ancient Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Bhaktavatsala Perumal, whose name signifies divine compassion and love for devotees, with his consort worshipped as Ennai Petra Thayar (Sudhavalli Thayar). The temple's origins trace to the Pallava period around the 8th century, with subsequent expansions by the Cholas and Vijayanagara rulers. Its architectural splendor features traditional Dravidian style with a majestic Rajagopuram and the sanctum crowned by the Uthpala Vimanam. The presiding deity stands in an eastward-facing posture, and the sacred tank is known as Varuna Pushkarini. According to the Sthala Purana, the temple commemorates Lord Vishnu's compassionate intervention to reconcile Goddess Mahalakshmi and Samudra Raja, after which He remained as the protector of devoted devotees. The temple serves as an important Sri Vaishnava pilgrimage center and hosts major festivals including the annual Brahmotsavam, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Panguni Uthiram, Sri Rama Navami, Krishna Janmashtami, and Garuda Sevai.
