About Nrisingha Temple, Nadia
Nrisingha Temple is a historic Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Narasimha, located at Nrisinghapally beside the Nabadwip-Krishnagar road in Nadia district, West Bengal. According to local tradition, the temple has existed since ancient times, with mythology recounting that Lord Narasimha visited this sacred site to cleanse himself after vanquishing the demon Hiranyakasipu. A pond adjacent to the temple is believed to have once been part of the Mandakini River, and the location became known as Narasimha Kshetra or Nrisinghapally. The temple holds significant historical importance as a place visited by the saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his associate Jeev Goswami. King Krishnachandra Roy of Krishnanagar contributed to establishing the shrine, and the structure underwent major reconstruction in 1896 under the patronage of Raja Khistish Chandra Roy.
