About Brindaban Chandra's Math
Located in Rathsarak, Guptipara in Hooghly district, Brindaban Chandra's Math comprises four significant Vaishnava temples: Chaitanya, Brindaban Chandra, Ramchandra, and Krishnachandra. The structures exemplify Bengal school architecture with intricate terracotta work and carvings depicting scenes from Hindu epics and Puranas. The Chaitanya temple, built during Emperor Akbar's reign by King Bishwar Roy, represents the earliest Bangla architectural style. The main Brindaban Chandra temple was constructed in 1810 CE and enshrines the deities of Jagannath, Balaram, and Subhadra. The temple complex is renowned for its annual Rath Yatra festival, during which the idols are ceremonially carried in a chariot to Masir Badi and Gopal Temple at Burrabazar for seven days of worship before being returned in the Ulto Rath procession.
