About Mathur Shiva Temple

Located in Kunnamkulam of Thrissur District in Kerala, Mathur Shiva Temple is a significant Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple's most distinctive feature is its presiding deity—a Rudraksha-stone Shiva linga of irregular shape and red colour, considered untouched by human sculptors. According to local tradition, the sage Parashurama installed this sacred linga. The main sanctum houses both Shiva facing west and Lord Parvathi facing east. The temple holds an important place in Kerala's spiritual landscape as one of the 108 celebrated Shiva temples throughout the state, making it a destination for devotees seeking blessings from the divine couple.
