About Mallikarjuna Temple

Located in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh, the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple or Srisailam Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. Shiva is worshipped here as Mallikarjuna and represented through the lingam, while Parvati is depicted as Bhramaramba. The temple holds dual significance in Hindu spirituality, recognized as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas—the most sacred manifestations of Shiva—and simultaneously as one of the fifty-two Shakta pithas, which are principal centers of goddess worship across the Indian subcontinent.
